Video Captures Deadly, Out-of-Control Ford F-250 Running Over Its 79-Year-Old Owner as He Tries to Stop the Truck: Jeff Wigington Sues Ford on Behalf of Family Members

Feb 11, 2025

In a horrific Ring camera video, the tragic accident of Roy “Mack” Irwin, 79, on June 19, 2024, is captured when his 2023 Ford F-250 ran him over after he pulled his pick-up into a friend’s driveway on an errand to pick up church donations. The truck can be seen moving of its own accord several times, back and forth, despite being left in park.

The passenger, unable to stop it, is seen being helped by Mr. Irwin who ran to the open door on the driver’s side of the Ford. Failing to get hold of its steering wheel, the determined man chased the pickup as it moved off the drive and into the News Braunfels suburban street. When Mr. Irwin tried to get into the cab itself, the Ford ran him over in that roadway. He suffered immediate and severe bodily harm and later perished from his injuries.

Jeff Wigington of Wigington Rumley Dunn & Blair, LLP represents the daughter of Mack Irwin. The lawsuit, filed against Ford Motor Company, not only seeks monetary damages based upon the shocking death on behalf of the grieving family, but also serves as a way for Mack’s loved ones to help others from falling victim to these dangers. The Irwin family is hopeful that its civil action will be a way to warn others who own or drive Ford F-250 pickup trucks of these dangers.

Warns Mr. Wigington:

“Mack Irwin didn’t have to die. He was a very vibrant man. He was a boot salesman. The doorcam video clearly shows the Ford truck moving back and forth three times. If you own one of these vehicles, you should be careful and you should pay close attention to your transmission.”

And while there are no current recalls for the 2023 model, Wigington already has confirmed not only consumer groups documenting transmission-related problems with Ford F-250s, but also complaints filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“The determination of the specific cause of those movements will have to be done throughout the course of this litigation, through testing that’s ultimately completed,” Wigington explains.
